Simpl Courses collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no servers. Everything stays on your device.
What we store, and where
Your settings and grade snapshots stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How Canvas data is read
It reads Canvas with the login you already have. It never sees your password.
Permissions
Its interface runs on Canvas sites alone: Canvas’s own domain, and your school’s address once it is recognised or added. The Chrome build may look at any page, because schools host Canvas at addresses of their own: one short script reads a page’s own markup to tell whether it is Canvas, and on any other page does nothing, keeps nothing and sends nothing. Chrome’s Site access setting can narrow it to sites you pick; Safari asks for each site as you open it. Nothing reads your history.
The file converter
Runs on your device. If you connect your own CloudConvert key, the files you drop in go to CloudConvert with that key and come back converted; nothing is uploaded otherwise, and the key stays in your browser.
Children and student records
It shows your own Canvas account. It creates no records and shares nothing with anyone.
Deleting your data
Remove the extension, or use Settings → Data → Reset everything. Nothing is held on a server.
Changes
If that ever changes, this page and the extension will say so.
